I take care of the legally required tasks relating to employee protection, from systematic hazard assessment to the periodic inspection of work equipment, either for you or together with your in-house resources. The aim is not the most beautiful documentation, but safety that is actually lived in your business.

External safety specialist (SFK)

As an external safety specialist (Sicherheitsfachkraft, SFK), I take on the legally required safety-related support for your business under the Austrian Employee Protection Act (ASchG). You don’t get a contract with an anonymous hourly figure, but a dedicated contact person with experience on the authority side.

  • Annual hazard assessment and update of the safety and health protection document (SiGe-Dokument)
  • Site walk-throughs at fixed intervals, safety briefings for your employees

Self-inspection under §82b GewO

Operating facilities (Betriebsanlagen) under §74 of the Austrian Trade Regulation Act (GewO) must be inspected every five years by a suitably qualified expert. I am qualified as an expert under §82b and carry out the inspection objectively, completely and in a way that stands up to scrutiny by the authorities.

  • Comparison of the current state with the original permit decision (Genehmigungsbescheid) and all subsequent amendments
  • List of defects, prioritised by urgency and legal basis
  • Inspection certificate under §82b Abs. 3 GewO for submission to the authority

Work equipment inspection

Work equipment (machinery, lifting equipment, ladders, personal protective equipment (PPE) and much more) is subject to the Work Equipment Ordinance (AM-VO). Periodic inspections are a legal obligation and, at the same time, the basis for accident prevention and insurance cover.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an internal and an external safety specialist?
An internal SFK is part of your workforce and responsible for your own business. An external SFK is engaged under contract and supports several businesses. This lowers the costs compared with a full-time employee of your own and brings an outside perspective into the business. For small and medium-sized enterprises, the external solution is usually the more economical and professionally better option.
How often does a §82b inspection have to take place?
In principle, every five years. The permit decision for your operating facility may specify different intervals. That is the first point we check together. If the facility undergoes significant changes, an earlier inspection may become necessary.
Which work equipment is subject to inspection?
All work equipment whose safety depends on how it is installed, or which wears through use, is subject to inspection. This includes in particular lifting equipment, ladders and mobile scaffolds, industrial trucks, electrical installations, pressure equipment and category III personal protective equipment. The exact inspection intervals and depth follow from the AM-VO, the manufacturer’s instructions and how the equipment is used in your business.
What are the most common mistakes from a labour inspector’s point of view?
Three classics: hazard assessments that no longer match the actual state of the business (often after extensions or conversions). Safety briefings that were signed but not understood. And inspection logs whose last entry was years ago. All three can be remedied with manageable effort if you start in good time.
