When an Excel macro is no longer enough
Almost every business has this spot: one person spends half a day a week in front of Excel, copying together data from three sources to build the weekly report. Or: every minor incident is entered into a spreadsheet by hand with date, equipment and cause. Nobody analyses it later, because nobody has the time.
That is exactly where I come in. Not with a major ERP roll-out, but with a lean Python script, a suitable dashboard or a small database: tools that improve a specific process without turning the whole IT landscape upside down.

Accident and near-miss analysis
Systematically analysing accident and incident data: where do which types of incident happen, at what times of day, on which equipment? Individual cases become a pattern, and the pattern becomes a targeted preventive measure.

OEE, plant availability, MTBF, MTTR, first-pass yield or throughput, visualised from PLC, MES or ERP data. As a live dashboard or as a weekly/monthly report, depending on the decision cycle.

Recurring Excel evaluations, mail merges, summaries of minutes, file comparisons: everything a person copies, pastes and formats today will run tomorrow via a Python script or a scheduled task.

Turning inspection logs, maintenance records and job sheets into a usable database. With deadline alerts, a search function and an export that stands up to the authorities, instead of scattered folders on network drives.

Interfaces between isolated systems
ERP data into Excel, Excel data into Power BI, Power BI KPIs back into the ERP. Connecting isolated systems via APIs, CSV exports or direct SQL queries, without having to introduce a new ERP.

What I deliberately don’t do
Lots of people can program. My contribution is the combination of technical operational know-how and programming craftsmanship, and that is exactly where I draw the line:
- Generic “AI chatbots” for customer service: there are specialised providers for that
- Machine learning models for marketing conversion: not my field
- Implementing third-party standard ERP/MES software: that is the job of the vendors
- Pure website development without a technical or operational context
